The Five Animal Frolics

                - The oldest Medical Qi Gong (Chi Kung) and health Art of Ancient China

In the Han Dynasty, Hua Tuo  (A.D.110-207), was an outstanding medical Doctor, known as the Father of Traditional Chinese medicine.  He researched the physical activities of animals specifically the characteristics of the Tiger, Deer, Bear, Monkey and Bird. He also combined the theory of the energy flow and distribution of the meridian lines with the physiological functions and pathological changes of the human body, and the relationship between the movements of these five animals and the five major inner organs of human beings: the Heart, Liver, Kidney, Lung, and Spleen.  Using this information of his research, he invented this set of exercises, which he proudly called, "My Doctor", or the Dr. who takes care of my own health.  The Five Animals Frolics, or Wu Qin Xi in Chinese, was first documented in a chapter of the Three Kingdoms Period - Biography of Hua Tuo, by Chen Shou, during the Western Jin Dynasty (A.D.265-316).  Hua Tuo was one of the first people, in the world, to use movements as a healing art.

The ancient health art of Five Animals Frolics Qigong has continued to be practiced and has benefited people's health for over 1800 years.  Practitioners use this physical and mental exercise to increase their Qi (energy) accumulation, protect and strengthen their internal organs, prevent and cure diseases of mental and physical.
